Historic Appomattox, Virginia
Milton Construction Company is located in historic Appomattox, Virginia. Our office is here and a majority of our team calls Appomattox home.
Appomattox is located in central Virginia, about thirty minutes to the east of the city of Lynchburg. This is a beautiful and relatively quiet place to live, raise a family, work or retire. The small town feel combined with easy access to the amenities of a larger urban center appeals to many locals and also to many who chose to move here from noisier places.
More than anything else, we are known for the events that took place here in April of 1865. On April 9, 1865, General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia (part of the Confederate Army) to General Ulysses S. Grant—effectively ending the Civil War that had ravaged our nation for the previous four years. This event and all of the history surrounding those days has been splendidly preserved at both the Appomattox Court House National Historic Park and the American Civil War Museum.
Appomattox is a wonderful community. To learn more, please visit the Town of Appomattox website and the Appomattox County website.
The photo above features a restoration project we did in the summer of 2017 which involved, among other things, new siding on the Charles Sweeney cabin, located in the Appomattox Court House National Historic Park.
A Brief History About Milton Construction Company
Our history as a construction company in this area dates back to the 1970’s. From the late 70’s until 2010, Ken Milton (Todd Milton’s father) owned Bass & Milton Construction Company—building hundreds of custom homes in and around Appomattox. In 2010, they started Milton Construction Company and began to focus more on remodeling and renovation work in addition to custom home building.

Prestigious Appomattox, VA custom built home

To begin, I had complete trust in Milton Construction Company, not knowing Todd, but from his Dad’s reputation as a builder. His estimate seemed fair so we got no others (that’s trust!). They completely gutted two connecting baths, flipping them to give us more room in our master bath. Also, they put up a new ceiling in our downstairs family room. We stayed with our children during the renovation but I had no qualms with turning our keys over to Todd or the crew. He was always available for my questions or comments. The crew was so good about coming up with solutions and making suggestions. I thank them all.
