Appomattox Contractor Shows Home Renovation in Phenix
This featured project is in neighboring Phenix, a very rural (culturally and historically rich) area about thirty minutes south of Appomattox in Charlotte County. Part of the house was over 100 years old and the back section was an addition around 40 years old. Milton Construction completed a home renovation consisting of a kitchen remodel, multiple bathroom remodels, all main level flooring and ceilings, addition of a screened porch, and more. Doors were relocated and new partitions were built to frame the new layout.
On the first meeting in late summer of 2018, Pam our client had very organized ideas about what she wanted to do. We brought in a computer draftsman who met with them a few times and drew a set of construction drawings. It took a few months to work on the plans and discuss the project to the point where construction work could confidently begin in January of 2019.

Shown below are a couple photos of the old home exterior before and during the renovation. The front of the home in the foreground is the original section over 100 years old with the newer back section addition before the Milton renovation. The next photo shows a bay window for the dining room added and the door shown in the first photo has been moved for the addition of a screened in porch.
Below are a couple photos showing the kitchen area before renovation. The second photo shows the reduced space next to the arched doorway due to an old chimney that was removed to gain more finished kitchen space.

It is hard to believe all this empty construction space shown above could be transformed to what you see below in this beautiful kitchen remodel. But things were progressing outside in stages as well.

Work was completed on schedule in late May 2019 and as you can see, the transformation is stunning—new hardwood floors and cabinetry, granite countertops, new appliances, abundant lighting, tiled backsplash, and much more. The removal of the chimney next to the arched doorway helped open up more kitchen space.

Both the master bathroom on the main level and a second floor bathroom were also renovated. The complete plumbing and electrical overhaul throughout the home was part of the plan in making these renovations possible. The age of a home like this always presents challenges and a great deal of labor to make things right and this was no exception.

The finished exterior renovations included building a screened porch home addition, new porch railings, complete replacement windows, new shutters, new gutters and downspouts, etc.

Milton Construction is qualified to successfully work on any area of your home—inside or out. We have a dedicated team of skilled carpenters, as well as a carefully selected group of various tradesmen whom we have worked with for many years. We do not engage in putting our projects out to find sub-contractors with the lowest bids. In addition to working in Appomattox, we serve the surrounding areas of Lynchburg and Forest.
Milton Construction Company recently renovated our entire 100 year old farmhouse…this was a lengthy process which they made as painless as possible. The remodel was completed on budget and on time. Everyone (including subcontractors) were very friendly, professional, and did excellent work. We highly recommend Milton Construction Company for any construction needs.
