Original Homeowners in Appomattox remodel their Master Bathroom
This remodeling project for Milton Construction services took place for neighbors in Appomattox. This is an enormous amount of custom work for a Master Bathroom Remodel project. The owners spent years building in the early 1990s as a Federal Styled home from the 1820s. The bathroom had a typical shower stall and Jacuzzi tub. Now as the owners age, they wanted something more accessible for a wheelchair.
BATHROOM REMODELER INVITES YOU TO TAKE A TOUR
We began with the design phase so that our clients can visualize the final remodeling project. We strived to do as much of the planning work as possible up front, so that once the job was started, it could run along smoothly and be completed in a timely manner with as few delays as possible.
Now it was time for the actual construction to take place. We loved pulling up to the home each day with the beautiful setting. Like the owner’s said, what used to be in this location was a small enclosed shower unit and a large garden tub. Both were removed for this large tile shower to be built.

On the left side, the door to the water closet shifted to the left to allow for a larger shower, then a barn door was installed – on the right is the large tile shower with three faucets controlled by a digital controller. There is a shower light in the ceiling and we also had to complete a special window treatment per code. And finally is the custom made linen cubby/shelf with a stone top.

You can see the digital thermostat that controls the volume and temperature of three different shower heads!
You can now see our clients enjoying a refreshing start and end to their day in their newly remodeled master bathroom. We hope you enjoy this story as much as we at Milton and our clients do.
Our job was to create a large custom shower, and other bathroom modifications, in a house of old style open beam construction. We had a photograph of something very much like we wanted, and the Milton design team started from there, setting up lasers, cameras, and generating a 3 D rendering of how the finished project would look. After a few adjustments we agreed on a final design. We then selected our fixtures, tile, colors, etc. from the vendors with whom Milton Construction works, and arrived at a final price and agreement for the project.
The job was done in the agreed upon six weeks, which included the holidays. The crew was very careful to cover and protect the house and floors and kept us up to date each day on progress made and changes that were needed as they got into hidden areas. They made small changes “on the fly” at our request, as the difference between what looks good on a drawing, and what works in reality, is often different. The job was finished on schedule and on budget and is exactly what we imagined it would be. Can’t say better than that!
