Appomattox In-Law Suite Addition Project

This project for Milton Construction services took place in Appomattox. The project included us designing and building a home addition for an In-Law Suite.

We then entered the design phase. During this phase, we finalized the details of the new addition project. We strived to do as much of the planning work as possible up front, so that once the job was started, it could run along smoothly and be completed in a timely manner with as few delays as possible.

Now it was time to get to work.  We begin with the footings, then the block foundation, the framing and rafters.

Upon completion, the in-laws now enter into a beautiful new living space.  Notice in the corner of the living room.  This is where we had to work around the gas fireplace in the original home and creatively turned it into a decorative shelf.

Our designer furnished these cabinets and countertops.  We included nice details including undercounter lighting as an inexpensive touch that goes a long way.

A small window over the shower stall lets in natural light for this quaint bathroom.

The bedrooms are comfortable including the back bedroom having a nice view of undeveloped land.

We used the backyard space in a perfect way where the steps lead to a shared deck, but the in-laws have their own screened in porch area.

We created an entry from the existing home into the new addition. It was very important to the family that there be a sense of separateness and privacy as much as possible.

Our last image shows the beauty of this Addition along with its privacy and seamless connection to the original home.  Both families will have a wonderful time being close with their independence too.
