New Screen and Covered Porch built in Forest
This New Screen Porch project was completed in Forest. The only existing element was the concrete patio at the back of the house. From there, the vision took shape—one side enclosed with screens and topped by a vaulted ceiling to invite in light and breeze, while the other remained open and uncovered, directly connected to the outdoors. Together, they became more than just an addition; they created two distinct ways to experience the same space, built side by side to extend how people live just beyond their walls.
We centered the vaulted section around the existing exterior patio door, creating a natural focal point. The space was also prepped with a TV hookup, and while not shown, two infrared heaters were mounted to the ceiling to extend comfort into cooler weather.
The original backyard provided the foundation. Layered over it, the design sketch illustrates the plan—a screened, vaulted retreat paired with an open covered porch, taking shape long before the first board was set.
Though the project was modest in scale, the project received the same level of planning—reflected in the design and render that follow.
We installed a 3-foot PCA aluminum screen door and used the Screeneze system, which allows for a clean, efficient installation and delivers a tight, professional fiberglass screen finish. The celling throughout the new structure is vinyl.
We maximized the structure’s height, bringing it just below the existing windows while maintaining the original roof pitch for a seamless transition. Architectural shingles were matched precisely to the home, and we sourced an exact match for the vinyl siding and trim, right down to the black gutter—ensuring the addition blends in as if it were always part of the original design.
Within the screened area, we installed exterior-grade tile with a subtle, slip-resistant texture—combining durability, safety, and a refined finish suited for all-weather use.
From inside the home, the door opens and the space unfolds, inviting you into a breezy, vaulted retreat that feels both sheltered and free. From the backyard, the entrance draws you in just as effortlessly, a natural extension that welcomes you to step inside. This isn’t just a porch—it’s a transition between indoors and out.
Milton Construction is pleased to have delivered a new screened and covered porch designed for years of enjoyment in a newly crafted outdoor living space.
