Home Remodeling and Renovations Design Process
Milton Construction is a local Whole Home Remodeling & Renovation company with our specialized design process.
Starting a home remodeling or renovation project with our team is a carefully guided journey built on planning and skilled craftsmanship. From the initial consultation through the development of a detailed construction agreement, each step is designed to turn your vision into reality. Here’s a closer look at the key stages that shape our approach to creating exceptional home improvements.
First Inquiry
Whether by phone, web inquiry, or an occasional office visit, most clients are first welcomed by Tracey. She gathers key information, ensures the project aligns with our expertise, and schedules a Customer Discovery Call with a member of our Design Team.
Honesty and Integrity in Every Project
We focus on projects that align with our expertise. If a project isn’t a good fit, we’ll respectfully decline and, whenever possible, refer you to trusted professionals. While we understand this may be disappointing, we believe in being upfront to ensure the best outcome for every client.
Customer Discovery Call
This call, typically with Domenic Grutz, our most experienced Remodeling Consultant, usually takes place a day or two after the initial inquiry. During this brief conversation, Domenic thanks the client for reaching out, discusses the project to confirm it’s a good fit, and schedules an In-Person Visit with our Design Team. These visits are usually arranged within one to two weeks, and a confirmation email is sent to establish clear communication—something we prioritize with every client.
In Person Visit
This complimentary initial visit is an opportunity for us and the client to get to know each other and review the project together. We’ll discuss key considerations such as the type of renovation, timeline, budget, and expectations for a contractor. During this meeting, we’ll outline our process, provide general budget guidance, and emphasize the importance of flexibility and realistic expectations—because no two renovations are alike, and detailed budgeting comes later. Your visit will usually be conducted by either Domenic or Kelly Mann, who will serve as your Remodeling Consultant.
Design Agreement
When both our company and the client agree it’s a good fit, the client signs a Design Agreement with a 3–4% initial investment. Our team then coordinates the design process to define the project and prepare a fixed-price construction proposal.
Design Process
This phase typically takes 4–10 weeks—or longer for larger, more complex projects—and involves our team collaborating with other professionals. It includes drafting plans, selecting finishes, and consulting with trade partners. Throughout, we work to keep the process moving toward a fixed-price construction agreement.
A Positive Customer Experience
Our mission is to ensure you enjoy the entire process, from concept to completion.
Here’s how our client describes it: “They just took my aspirations and took it to what I didn’t even know I wanted. I let Milton come up with the plan since I really didn’t know how it was all going to work out, and it blew my mind. I would absolutely recommend Milton Construction, and have already done so several times. We honestly can't say enough good things about Milton Construction and are so happy we chose them to complete our project. They turned an old family farmhouse into our dream space. The compliments we get are endless, and we owe all of that to Milton Construction and their wonderful team. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have quality work done to their home.”
